Scholar is the mentoring and teaching layer every KAF program sits under: a real creative project cycle, paired with a program director, from concept through planning, execution, and a public showcase, built around your specific creative gift.
Every cycle moves through the same four phases: Orientation (define the project and what "done" looks like), Foundation (lock the concept, venue, date, and key roles before any outreach starts), Execution (you lead outreach and real decisions, your director coaches from behind), and Show Day & Debrief (execute, capture, and document what you'd change next time). Your Curriculum tab tracks exactly where you are.
Each phase has a milestone checklist. Mark a milestone Submitted when it's ready, your director reviews it and either approves it or requests a revision with specific feedback. A phase only unlocks the next one once every milestone in it is approved, nothing here is self-graded.
Each milestone has its own notes field, that's yours: log progress, blockers, or thoughts as you go. It's separate from your director's feedback and you can edit it any time, you don't need to wait for a review to write something down.
The week ranges shown on each phase are suggestions, not deadlines. Year 1 is a 1-on-1 pilot, so your director paces your specific project with you rather than running everyone against the same calendar.
Cohort Members take part in KAF's Arts Based Events and Community Service events as a program requirement, alongside their own project cycle.
Once your director approves every Show Day & Debrief milestone, your cycle is marked complete and you become eligible for the Apprenticeship Program (paid, professional creative work). You'll see an eligibility banner on your Curriculum tab, and your director will follow up about next steps.

Creator Bound is KAF Foundation's apprenticeship program, a way to build real-world experience, a portfolio, and (for paid opportunities) income, working on creative and business projects for the Foundation. This portal is where that work gets posted, applied for, and managed.
KAF staff review new apprentice accounts in under a week. A complete profile with your skills and a portfolio link gets approved faster. Once you're approved, you'll be reached out to by email or directly to set up a quick meeting and walk through how the program works. You won't be able to apply to anything until that happens.
Browse open opportunities on the Opportunities tab, each one lists the category, compensation, and apply-by date. Once you apply, it moves to My Applications and comes off the open list for everyone else (it's claimed until KAF staff makes a decision). You can only apply to one at a time; if you're not selected, it opens back up automatically.
Each opportunity lists exactly what's expected: file counts, formats, deadlines, and anything else specific to that project. Read it fully before applying. If anything is unclear, reach out via the Contact page before you commit.
Paid opportunities list an amount upfront. Once your deliverables are submitted and approved by KAF staff, payment is sent within 5 business days via the method you provide after acceptance. Volunteer opportunities don't pay, but count toward experience and your portfolio the same way.
It happens, opportunities are competitive and often have a specific fit in mind. Not being chosen for one doesn't affect future applications. Keep your profile updated and keep applying.
The bell icon on Opportunities shows updates on your applications and new postings. Turn any of these on or off (new opportunities, application updates, announcements) in Settings.
